Hi! As you might have picked up on: I am a Lego fanatic. I waited to post until today because… we finally went to watch The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part!!! AH! I am really in love with this movie.
First, before I had watched this movie I watched quite a few reviews. A lot of the reviewers stated that while enjoying this one, they liked the first movie better and thought the ending was a bit confusing. I can not concur. I liked this movie more, and I completely understood the ending. Huh. Poor Lego Movie 2 didn’t do as expected for the first weekend at the box office. I do not get it. I loved it so much, I was grinning for almost the entire movie. I was worried about it also because it was from the director of Trolls (Mike Mitchell), and I REALLY disliked that movie.Β I NEVER WANT TO SEE TROLLS AGAIN. EVER.Β I cannot believe it is from the director of Trolls. I guess I’ll just applaud him for the drastic improvement. π
Shoutout to my good blogger friend KATIE, for assuring me of this movie being awesome (Pun intended)!
I suppose all of the reviewers I watched were adult males so they might have resonated with the message of the first movie better including the father-son message, while this one has a very sweet sibling message. My dad actually still has not seen this movie yet, and I’m torn on which he would like better. My Mom preferred this one though.
The cast was phenomenal. I definitely enjoyed Queen Watevera Wanabi (Tiffany Haddish) more than I thought I would. Emmet (Chris Pratt) was SO darling.Β Elizabeth Banks as Lucy was hilarious again, and I really liked the dynamic between her and Emmet. I also really enjoyed Rex Dangervest (also Chris Pratt) whos name suspiciously reminds me of Ninjago Cole’s go-to disguise name: Rocky Danger-buff. Of course, my all-time favorite, Batman (Will Arnett), was outstanding, and there was a good amount of attention on him. Benny (Charlie Day) was absolutely an attention grabber (in a good way). I did not have as much fun with Unikitty (Alison Brie) as in the first one, but she did have a couple memorable moments. Metal Beard (Nick Offerman) seemed a little under-used, but he was never a favorite character for me anyway.
I should talk about negatives, I suppose. The Hindu greeting “Namaste” was used for laughs, as well as Rex stating he had been meditating a lot, and use of the word “butt” one time that I could count… but that is the most of it and those things are not dwelt on.
The message of the movie was a really good one. Finn is back, now with his sister, and their dynamic really ends well. There were some parts that might make you cry. Β I laughed out loud in the movie, and so did the rest of the audience. The songs were catchy, fun, hilarious, and not too over-done (I’m not a huge musical person, but I actually have been listening to the soundtrack this past week. Hehe.). There is a really great twist at the end of the movie too. >:) The animation is fantastic as ever.

Oh my gosh I loved it SO much!!!! Thanks for the shout out! You’re awesome! (Pun intended π ) I was so excited to see Finn back because A. I didn’t expect it, and B. He’s like 15ish now, and still playing with Lego and still has that imagination. Which, as a teen who still plays with toys, is something I appreciate being put into a movie and not making it seem weird. Batman will always be the best! GIRL!!!!! I saw the movie with my friend who I got into Ninjago and we kept accidentally calling Rex, “Rocky Danger-Buff” XD the music in it was really good! There are some really catchy songs! (I love puns WAY too much XD) I saw a lot of not so great reviews after I saw the movie and it’s like “What? But it was soooo amazing!” I honestly don’t think I’ve liked a movie that much in a long time. Have the bind bags hit the stores near you yet? Awesome reveiw!!!

You’re Welcome! Thank you! Yes! I was really happy with how they did Finn as well! LOL Yes! I kept mixing up Rex’s name and my sister would correct me. XD Yes there are CATCHY songs. (Haha!) I know, I don’t get it. They have! My sister has already bought a bunch of Minifigs, but I still haven’t found a Rex. We were feeling up the minifig bags in Walmart, and a little boy came to get some. I asked him if he knew how to feel for the ones he wanted and he said “no,” so we asked him which ones he wanted, felt for them, and gave him them. They had the ones he wanted, but no Rex. SIGH

Oh my gosh I’m trying to find Rex too, BUT HE’S SOOOOO HARD TO FIND!!!!! So far I’ve found President Business, Swamp Creature, and Hula Lula. That was really nice of you to help him! I’m horrible at feeling through blind bags, still working on that XD which characters have you found so far?

trolls is absolutely annoying but actually kinda cute.
my babysitting kid loves it to literal death.
makes me sing the songs.
makes me draw the characters.
it doesn’t make it any less annoying. xD
I’m actually considering seeing this one! It looks so nice π Thanks for the review!

This looks super cool! I’d love to see it, however, we have to save up our money to go see Captain Marvel and Endgame. I’ll probably just buy it when it comes out on DVD. Funny story, I liked the Lego movie, but I didn’t own it. I was at a used bookstore, found it for $5 (on blu-ray & blu-ray 3D) I thought, maybe. I looked at the back, saw who was in it(Chris Pratt) and I HAD to get it. He is so funny(I especially love him in Guardians of the Galaxy, but I also can’t wait for the new Pixar movie he’s working on) and now that I have the Lego movie, I appreciate it a whole lot more.
