My Fun Projects Besides Blogging

Captain Rex

Hi People! Today I will mainly be sharing with you some of my art from this year!  Stay to the end to hear me also talk about the novel I’m writing and another super cool thing I recently started.

My Art:

I’m pretty sure the following are in the order I made them. I can see how I’ve improved even in the last year:

I am usually inspired by movies/TV shows and I typically only draw characters, but ever so often I’ll sketch something slightly more random like this girl. Also, I utilize Pinterest a TON for inspiration and tutorials. As you might tell, there are a lot of erase marks. That is one of the main things I struggle with: DRAWING DARK THEN HAVING TO ERASE! Does anyone else have trouble reminding themselves to draw lighter?

My sister and I both have a kind of obsession with making Lego characters look non-lego. This is my take on human Barbara and Bruce Wayne from the Lego Batman Movie (I seriously love all the characters from that movie).

Kylo Ren from the Force Awakens ^. I have tried to draw this guy MANY times, and this one is my best so far, though there is definitely room for improvement. We draw a lot of Star Wars characters in hopes of hanging them up in our Star Wars room. I used my black chalk pastel to help me with this one.

I also do watercolor painting, which is a lot of fun. I really recommend it. This is Captain Rex from Star Wars the Clone Wars with his Phase 2 helmet. I will want to draw Rex without his helmet on soon.

I have recently done a few pieces of Ahsoka artwork. I’m not disappointed with how this one came out, for my first try, but I might redo it eventually.

Finally this last drawing I did 3 days ago and I very proud of how it came out. I draw and paint most of my things by looking at a picture and trying my best to replicate it. It is fun to see how I can improve over time.

When drawing from Movies/TV shows, I find that drawing cartoon characters (like Ahsoka) are easiest because they are not as complexly built, usually. I’m not sure what comes next: drawing real people or trying to make lego people look like humans. Real people have to be very precise, but even if they aren’t perfect a lot of the times you can recognize them fairly easily.  Drawing human Lego people, on the other hand, is hard, especially when you are drawing close-ups on their faces. I’ve been trying to draw Jay from Ninjago for a while now, but I STILL can not do him justice. It’s hard because I have to capture his personality and looks all while being very imaginative with eye color, and adding a nose which the TV character doesn’t have.

MY BOOK:

I’ve been writing a novel lately about a teen boy who has to become the captain of a ship when his father dies onboard. His name is Maxwell Bryant. The antagonist is the Masked Pirate who is feared throughout the sea and has remained a threat for almost an impossible century. It’s an adventure novel written in first person. You get to know the members of Max’s crew, including Warren Scott, another main character. I plan to have it published. Here’s a little sneak preview just for my readers of my first line:

That is Max talking. You can also see there I’ve written: 12,729 words so far. I’m definitely not finished yet, but I thought you guys might like to know the basics.

My New Project:

Finally, this last project is really exciting. I’m going to make my first fairly serious short film with my friends. I’ve never used anyone outside of my family for a short film, and this should be my longest fictional film so far. I estimate it will be between 10-20 minutes. My wonderful siblings are also pitching in. I’m in the process of writing the script. I will also be filming, editing, and acting a small part in it, etc. So yeah, I have some work ahead of me, but it is all fun. If it ends up being OK with all their parents, I might present the finished product on this site! 🙂

What do you think? Do you like to draw or paint? What have you been working on lately? I’d love to hear! If you enjoyed this post be sure to drop a like! Bye for now, everyone!

  1. What wait?!? You redraw the Lego characters as humans?! So do I! LOL that’s so funny that we both do that. I love your picture of Bruce and Barbra 😀 girl I hear ya with drawing too dark, I do that alllllllll the time. I also totally get the nose thing, I also find it really difficult to make the side profiles different from each other. Ooooooooo your book sounds AWESOME! I can’t wait to read it when it’s published! Good luck filming the short film, I hope we’ll be able to see it!!

      2. YES! It’s so cool! 🙂 I have drawn mostly Cole, XD but I’ve also tried another picture of Barbara, Bruce, and Dick altogether. I’ve tried Nya too, but I just can’t get her right. If I make one I really like I might email it to you!

    1. Thanks so much, JustAG! I had fun doing him.

I’ll be publishing it then selling it on Amazon. 😉

Thank you! I’m hoping to get a YouTube account if all of their parents are OK with them being on Youtube. So far none of them seem to have problems with what I want to do, so it is very likely you guys could end up seeing it.

  3. (It won’t let me reply under your comment, so I’m just gonna reply here)
Yes! It is!! Oh cool! That picture of Bruce, Barbra and Dick sounds awesome! Yeah Nya is kinda hard to draw, she was the first one I tried and had to do it over a couple times… Oh yes! That would be awesome! I’ve pretty much only drawn the Ninjago characters so far, I’ve done Lloyd, Nya, Jay, Harumi (as The Quiet One), and I recently tried one of Kai and Wu, but Kai can out terrible so I’ll probably redo that one XD
